Supervised Visitation Monitor

This position is ideal for those that are seeking rewarding work and flexible hours; you let us know which days each month you are available. This is a part-time contract position. The Monitor supervises scheduled visits between parents and their child(ren).

What are Supervised Visits? 

Sometimes parents are not allowed to see their children without a third-party present to ensure the child’s safety and welfare. Supervised visits have usually been court ordered because of an accusation or deficiency in a person’s parenting skills due to mental health illness, substance abuse, family violence, and false accusations. Therefore, a monitor is present at the visit between the child and visiting parent to make sure no physical or emotional harm comes to the child. It is the job of the monitor to ensure the child feels safe and comfortable. 

The monitor will serve as an impartial observer, blending into the background of most visits; however, they must remain aware of the conversation and actions of everyone attending the visit. The monitor must intercede on the rare occasion that the visiting parent engages in inappropriate conversations and/or activities, or if there is a clear and present danger in the parent-child interaction. 

Job Type:  

• Form 1099 Contract Position 
• Part-Time  
• 0–30 hours per week (depending on your availability) 

Schedule: 

Monitoring assignments are based on the hours of availability that you provide each month. This position will have variable hours depending on need but will include mostly weekend hours and periodic weekday hours. This is ideal for a part-time or second job. 

• Monday - Sunday 
• 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM based on your stated availability  

Work Location: 

In person, at various locations in the greater Austin Metropolitan area, such as libraries, restaurants, parks (weather permitting), malls, activity-based locations (e.g., Tom Fooleries, Gattitown, Thinkery, Chuck E. Cheese, Austin’s, Austin Aquarium, etc.), museums, and/or shopping areas. On very rare occasions, visits may occur in the homes of clients. 

Education and Experience: 

BA/BS in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling or Education 

• Four years of previous supervised visitation monitoring experience may be substituted for a degree. 
• Four years of previous experience with child protective services, criminal justice, or dealing with families in crisis situations may be substituted for a degree. 

Two (2) years of experience working with children, family counseling, mediation social work, counseling, teaching, or criminal justice. 

Access Visitation Services, LLC, is an approved provider for Domestic Relations of Travis County as well as Williamson County. We are a member of the Supervised Visitation Network (SVN) and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC).

Access Visitation Services, LLC (AVS), is a company focused on improving the lives of children and the stability of all forms of families during times of crisis. We are looking to hire a qualified individual for a part-time contract position in the Hays, Travis, and Williamson County (greater Austin area) to monitor supervised and exchange visits between individuals and their dependents. We also are looking for individuals to perform supervised visitation services in parts of Caldwell and Comal counties.
